Independent Living and Retirement Communities Project
ADA designed 12 attractive and accessible independent living duplexes for deserving seniors in Marysville, Kansas. Each of the 24 two-bedroom units includes living, dining and kitchen areas, a laundry room, and a 3/4 bath with a roll-in shower that also serves as a storm shelter. Two units were specifically designed to be readily accessible for those with disabilities and one was designed for individuals with hearing and vision impairments. All units were designed to be Energy Star rated and to meet or exceed the ‘visitability” design standards of the Nebraska Assistive Technology Partnership. Our team also designed a 1,600 square-foot community building with a meeting area, kitchen, office, restrooms and storage space.
