ADA’s design for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in south Lincoln included a 17,000 square-foot education addition and a 10,200 square-foot sanctuary addition to accommodate a growing congregation. The education addition features nine classrooms, church and school staff offices, expansion of the multipurpose room, support spaces, an elevator and kitchen. The sanctuary addition includes a main worship area, overflow space and a balcony. A generous narthex/commons area dramatically joins the sanctuary and multipurpose rooms with cathedral ceilings and skylights. While working with a limited budget, we were able to make a bold statement with beautiful heavy timber trusses in the sanctuary. We also worked with a sound consultant and an organ designer for a well-integrated state-of-the-art sound system.
